VA Symphony Under the Stars:
The VA Symphony presented by the Cook Foundation was held on Saturday, June 4th. There were approximately 2500 people in attendance for the event. This year's theme was "America the Beautiful". A huge thank you to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Department for supervising the road closures and to Boy Scout Troop 111 for all of their assistance with this event. Next year's concert is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Market Nights on Main:
Market Nights on Main is now in full swing. Our summer promotion takes place every Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Gazebo on Main Street and features a farmer's market as well as retail and restaurant promotions. Our farmer's market features local produce, bison, goat cheese, jams & jellies, baked goods, fresh chicken and eggs, local crafters and much more. Stop by the GMSA table at the market for a list of participating merchants and restaurants for the weekly Main Street merchant specials! The event runs June-August.
Christmas in July (almost July)
The Walter Reed Garden Club, The Garden Club of Gloucester, MSPT and the GMSA are joining forces this holiday season to beautify Main Street and spread a little Christmas cheer! It is our hopes to decorate a total of 20 lampposts (every other post) from the Courthouse Circle to Lewis Ave with lights, fresh garland and ribbon. As this is our first year, we are asking if any Main Street businesses or citizens would be interested in joining our efforts by giving a donation. Any amount would be appreciated. Depending on the amount of funds received, we may be able to decorate more posts. If interested, please contact Helen Haley at 695-4950 or Arlene Tucker at 693-3117.
