Bay School Auction Honors Kathleen Noffsinger

The Bay School in Mathews will hold the 12th annual Fine Art Auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th at “Pond Point,” the home of Anne Wortham and Neil Webre.
Kathleen Noffsinger, a local watercolor artist, is the honored guest at this year’s Gala. She is creating an original piece to be auctioned during the evening. Kathleen has a large following of patrons and students. Kathleen is an award-winning artist who expresses her talent in lively watercolors of wildlife and nature. From the simple design on a wading Egret to complex underwater scenes of Rockfish, Kathleen’s works are images of nature that elicit a sense of tranquility and appreciation for the simpler things in life. Just recently her “Pastel Cottage (Bermuda)” was juried into the 2010 National Watercolor Society All Members Show in California and her “Callas and Palms” won an award at the 2010 Virginia Watercolor Society Juried Show.
Kathleen states, “I love to paint the great blue herons, ospreys, fish, flowers and gardens of the Chesapeake Bay Region, the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the Florida Keys in creative and colorful interpretations and look forward to sharing my work with you. I call my style of painting “impressionistic realism” and aim for a luminous flow of colors that shows off the extraordinary beauty of watercolor as a major art medium.”
The theme of this year’s gala event is “Art and Antiques.” An open bar and gourmet appetizers will be served on the lawn overlooking the Piankatank River. Both live and silent auctions are planned, including some of the most wonderful artwork from this region, weekend getaways, dinners and other packages. Tickets are available at the Bay School on Main Street for $65. Please call 804-725-1278 for more information.
