The Mathews Market Days Committee announced the recipients for the 2010 Grant Awards.  All monies awarded will be used to fund projects that benefit the citizens of Mathews County.  Grant checks will be presented during the opening ceremony of Mathews Market Days on Saturday September 11th at 9:00AM.

Recipients are as follows: 

Adult Literacy On The Middle Peninsula  $379.00 awarded to be used for text books, testing materials, copier paper and bus tickets for students who do not have private transportation.

Mathews County Visitor And Information Center  $5,000.00 awarded to help renovate the back storage room of Sibleys General Store to develop as an interpretative display room to be know as the "Chesapeake Room".

Gwynn's Island Museum  $1,000.00 awarded to be used to renovate storage space in the Gwynn's Island Museum.

Mathews Main Street Committee  $500.00 awarded to purchase more flags and banners which will add color and vitality to Mathews Village.

VA Cooperative Extension -Mathews County  $500.00 awarded to be used to help fund the cost of materials and supplies and certification programs for the after school enrichment program 2010-2011.
