The Virginia Holocaust Museum was founded in 1997 to educate future generations on the dangers of intolerance. As part of that mission, the Museum is constantly working to bring new and innovative programs to the Richmond community.

FIRST THEY CAME....Speaking Out Against Genocide

We are proud to bring together activists, scholars, witnesses, and survivors of modern genocide to discuss what all of us can do to stop these atrocities. This year's program will focus on the violence projected towards women and children in conflict areas.
The program will feature guest speakers Dr. Lee Ann De Reus, Niemat Ahmadi, Awer Bul, and Dr. Gregory Stanton.
The Last Survivor

The program will also include The Last Surivor, a documentary created for Genocide Prevention Month, which features the stories of four Survivors ffrom different genocides - the Holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur, and Congo. You can find more information about the film at www.righteouspictures.com.
Congo/Women: Portraits of War
April 8 - 30, 2010
The Museum will feature Congo/Women: Portraits of War, an international exhibit that raises awareness of the widespread violence facing citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Co-directed by Art Works project and Columbia University, the exhibit has traveled to numerous locations including the James Cohen Gallery in New York City, The Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda in Washington DC, and early this spring will show at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.
