Come on down to Mathews County on Saturday, May 23 for an old fashioned country get together, as the Mathews Family YMCA hosts its annual Bluegrass and BBQ Bash at Kingston Plantation with its expansive water views and antebellum appeal.
Get ready to kick up your heels to the sound of a live bluegrass band and enjoy some of the best barbecue and fixins around—from Smokin’ Joe’s of Kilmarnock—as well as beer and wine. The evening will also include a combination silent/live auction, with many unique and interesting items on the block: everything from fine art and vacation packages to a day trip with Ronald Coles Burroughs, one of the last pound netters on the Bay. The program will be held from 6 to 9p. at an estate on the scenic North River. Kingston Plantation is located on Route 658 (Kingston Lane) in North.
Ticket prices are $50, with proceeds going to benefit the Mathews YMCA’s Strong Communities Campaign. Tickets may be purchased in Mathews at the YMCA and the Mathews Visitor and Information Center and in Gloucester at Marketplace Antiques at the White Marsh Shopping Center and the offices of Rappahannock Concrete.
