"More than Mali," a VMFA Teacher Workshop, is led by Karen Getty from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Pauley Center Studio B. Teachers will look beyond Mali's borders to explore neighboring countries and two cultural groups within them: the Yoruba and Akan. Participants discover connections between the visual and the verbal by examining art rooted in a rich oral tradition. Hands-on activities include art and writing projects.
